Honestly... how much tanking do you do? Is it worth that extra little bit of armor and defence?

the most popular builds focus on 16 in holy for the best healing, crit heal ability and the talents which make your crit heals free on mana. retribution is nice for solo and other instances. With retribution you get imp. might and the kings buff which are valuable to us rogues :)

its been awhile since ive played my paladin in MC since my switch but thats how i see it

This is my build currently, I'm happy with it right now but I can't say for sure whether I will keep it forever =D

-Improved Lay on Hands 2/2

-Improved Holy Light 3/3

-Improved Blessing of Wisdom 5/5

Protection - 10 pts

-Improved Devotion Aura 5/5

-Toughness 5/5

Retribution - 31 pts

-Improved Blessing of Might 5/5

-Two Handed Weapon Specialization 5/5

-Deflection 5/5

-Vengeance 5/5

-Seal of Command 1/1

-Precision 3/3

-Consecration 1/1

-Conviction 5/5

-Blessing of Kings 1/1

With this spec, I have all the normally asked-for blessings for raids, which is something I think is good to have when you are short on paladins that can't always buff a given buff. And I end up concentrating in Retribution for melee. Works good for me so far. This is a good all around spec imo :p

This is what I am thinking of going to once I respec, if I continue to go with the "tank" build. I currently have precision instead of reckoning, but reckoning is nice now that its been fixed.

Repentence would be great for pvp, but i don't think its worth giving up consecration for and isn't worth wasting 5 points in improved seal of justice either.

This build gives me some flexibility with going 1h/shield for dmg absortion, holy shield and consecration for tanking ability, and some 2h stuff for going dmg mode.

Holy Talents (5 points)

Spiritual Focus - 5/5 points

Protection Talents (25 points)

Redoubt - 5/5 points

Improved Blessing of Protection - 2/2 points

Toughness - 5/5 points

Blessing of Sanctuary - 1/1 point

Shield Specialization - 5/5 points

Improved Seal of Fury - 2/5 points

Holy Shield - 1/1 point

Reckoning - 4/5 points

Retribution Talents (21 points)

Benediction - 5/5 points

Two-Handed Weapon Specialization - 5/5 points

Deflection - 5/5 points

Seal of Command - 1/1 point

Vengeance - 4/5 points

Consecration - 1/1 point

I need more time spent in the battlegrounds to see how much I like the tank build though. If I'm just not attacked that much then it could be worthwhile to switch to a build more focused on dps and healing.

Note: This build is quite deadly against dual wielders, those with high crit rates and/or fast weapons.
