So after months of MC the Mana Igniting Cord finally drops. I'm the highest caster in dkp in my guild and my priest build uses the Inspiration build; +healing and +crit % items with the Inspiration talent. So you could imagine how I felt when it was said that priests were not allowed to bid on it (until all the mages and warlocks pass) because it has damage AND healing and on top of that +crit to spell. Well all of them bid and to the highest bidder it went. I guess I would have been able to leave it at that if it weren't for the fact that I am allowed to bid on items such as Robe of Volatile Power which has the very same stats! This left me confused for the rest of the night as I tried to follow the logic. Using the same logic it was decided that druids are not to bid on Staff of Dominance, Staff of Shadow flame, Shadow Wing focus staff, and anything else that has damage on it (priests aren't allowed to bid on those either but we have Benediction/Anathema so we aren't too affected by that decision). They can, however, bid the Choker of the Fire Lord! What?

Yes the looting scheme is inconsistent and I think it may have to do with the officers in my guild being made up of mostly mages and warlocks but no druids and priests; therefore I should only expect this. Now I am feeling down because I look at the item tables from future bosses and have come to realize that I am excluded from most of the coolest caster gear.

Where do I go from here? I suppose I should dump inspiration and just invest my dkp into the +healing items that the guild has left me to choose from. However, I am hesitant to switch my healing strategy since with my current crit gear I am critting Flash Heal with a rate of 25%, which is a lot of fun to watch (especially to see the happy tank with the inspiration buff).

Well first of all it's pretty hard to come up with a good loot system that works for everyone but that does seem inconsistent. Having rules that specify what item can go to what class will just make things much more complex then is really needed. Yes it would be the most efficient if every item goes to the class that can benefit from it the most but it’s very hard to accomplish this, especially if you want to accomplish this by rules. What makes it even harder is that Blizzard is changing items all the times!

Even our loot system isn’t perfect but we spend a lot of time working this out but at the end of the day sometimes it still comes down to the respect between the members. Melee going after ranged weapons Hunters still need doesn't help the guild but nothing wrong with it when they don't need it because melee still uses range sometimes.

I decided to just go the normal healing route and go for mana/healing/regen gear. Tonite I got my Band of Sulfuras. Things are looking better. =)
