Here is an email that my Finance Professor sent out to everyone in my class. He's been trying to find out who stole the flash drive he accidentally left in the classroom computer a week ago, and he's finally cracked the case!

Dear Student,
I am saddened to discover that my flash drive is in the possession of
one of my own students in this corporate finance class.
Though I have reported to security that someone stole the flash drive
from the computer in the classroom, I am prepared to waive all likely
charges that would otherwise be placed against that student.

Therefore, as an act of good gesture I am simply asking that this
student leave the flash drive at the box office in the Berrie Center
and it will be collected without any questions asked. I do not intend
to get anyone of my students in problems with the law, therefore I am
hoping that this student would do the sensible thing and leave the
flash drive at the box office within the next few days.

This drive will not be useful for your success or failure on this
course. I do not keep answers to examination problems on this drive.
Every semester I use a different set of examination questions in my
exam papers. You do not understand the stress you have caused me thus
far. I am now in the process of preparing all the notes I already
prepared and stored on that drive you now hold. Your actions have also
affected all my current and previous students because their personal
data are in your possession.
I am disappointed but willing to forgive and forget if you do the right
thing and respond positively to this message.

I am sure you now know that the examination papers on that drive are
password- protected. You are not doing yourself any good by keeping
this drive and using my homework solutions stored on it so that you can
answer correctly the problems I set for homework.

You might not realize that you have committed a crime, so think
seriously about what you've done and respond to this message.
Every student in my class is receiving this message so you have my word
that I will not press charges against you.

I can buy you a drive if you need one. Do the right thing and return my
drive before I have to call you and ask you to give it back. It is very
easy for the authorities to find out what information was accessed on a
computer - very easy. You do not want to risk you career and your
reputation for a meager $39.99 so please take my advice and return the
drive to the box office. You do not have to leave your name nor my
name; just ask that it be given to the manager of the box office and
everything will be forgotten.

Thank you very much. I do hope that I do not have to deal with this
matter any further.

Regards,
Prof. Roberts

He probably doesn't have a damn clue who did it, but he's sending that letter out to hope the threat of him knowing will get the drive returned. Smart move on his part I give him props.

Lol, I just took his class today and nobody has given him back the flash drive yet. He has to rewrite all his exam questions and homework solutions and shit :shame:

That was hilarious to read... I'd suggest that you tell him you are Law and that should he even decide to press charges, you'll just end up labelling him a pussy.

Haven't profs heard of network drives? I have a personal network drive no one has access to but me and an admin... guess he can't trust network admins :p
