I have to admit with some hesistation that I have no idea what an IRC channel is. I have always heard it mentioned but lack the computer savviness as many of you - so I always let it go over my head. Can anyone explain? I'm assuming it has something to do with Inter-Raid-Channel?? /shrug

It's an old old internet chat protocol "Internet Relay Chat".

Ghetto style text-only chat rooms :)

We use it since many of us get our nerd on at work during the day and it is a good place to chat about the game among other things.

For some reason I can no longer connect using mIRC. If I go through the settings I already had (even changing the port between 6667 and 6668) I get error messages such as "No Route to Host", and "Unable to Connect" and "Connection Refused".

Using the link above, I can reach the server and connect and it recognizes my ident, but it will not let me go to the #da`kor channel - nothing happens.

Any suggestions?

Did you copy and paste it? It should work, I just tested it. The ident could take a while.

Get the same thing with port 6667. I even downloaded the latest version of mIRC.

try the specific servers.
like stratics.afraidyet.net
or stratics.frws.com
or irc.glowfish.de


irc.stratics.net is just a link to whatever server is closest to you, sometimes that doesn't work.

I tried those Annah, and it didn't help. I was able to get through only once, and then when I tried to join #da`kor, nothing happened.

The Stratics network seems to be the only one that gives me problems. I have been able to connect to other networks without problem, yet when I use "Stratics" as the network and "Stratics Random Server", even changing the port between 6667 and 6668, I can't connect. Any ideas?

Today I tried the copy and paste in my browser technique as well as changing each piece of information, and still I could not connect to Stratics.

Bump

Should try and get more people to hang out in irc (internet relay chat). Right now it's a bunch of the old school Da`kor players and some of the WoW players (Synapse, Ayanah, Tryst, Didek, Bralan, Vendrix, Darklight - Oogly and Crazyheal occasionally pop in). It's also somewhere to go when you are waiting for the servers to come back up on Tuesday.

IRC is basically a chat room where some us go during work hours, and when we are not in game to chat it up. You can download IRC here (http://mirc.com/get.html).

Once you load it up, you have to connect to the Stratics server. If it is not listed, you can add a new server by clicking servers on the left frame, then clicking "Add", and typing in the information like this:

then type in /join #Da`kor

Also, the executus irc channel is on the same server so you can also join that channel by typing in /join #executus

On most keyboards " ` " is the key directly left of your " 1 " key.
